Campaign update….

May 2nd, 2010

With only four days left, I am pleased to say that we have been meeting lots of positive people all over the constituency.
On Saturday we had a great reception in Penzance and in Helston too. It was great to meet so many people and have a good chat about the election.
We still have four days [...]

EasyRead: Labour Manifesto

April 28th, 2010

Today I am off to the John Daniels Centre to chat to those that use this centre on a daily basis.
During my conversations to arrange the visit I was asked if the Labour Party had an EasyRead version of the manifesto available.
I am pleased to say that it does, and it can be found here:

Got a question?

April 26th, 2010

Over the last few weeks I have been luck to meet many of you. If you want to catch me to ask a question I am around and about all over at the moment. In terms of pinning me down, feel free to catch me at the hustings events this week:
On Wednesday, April 28, Transition Helston [...]

Local girl?

March 30th, 2010

Cllr Wallis asked a legitimate question, and though we may answer this question differently – I hope we can agree to disagree without acrimony.

March 29th, 2010

The Cornishman is hosting an election debate to give its readers a unique opportunity to meet and question each of the  PPC Candidates for the St. Ives and IOS Constituency.
Six PPCs have agreed to attend:

Expenses

February 4th, 2010

In the interest of transparency, I thought people may want to see Andrew George’s expenses as detailed in the Legg report published today.
To be fair to Andrew, it would appear that he has paid back a substantial amount already and no doubt he will be paying back the remaining balance over the next few months.
We will [...]

Haiti

January 28th, 2010

The President of Haiti has indicated that “nearly 170,000″ bodies have been counted since the devastating earthquake that hit his country on January 12.

That is over double the amount of people living in this constituency.

The two way fight

January 14th, 2010

Further to my last post on the fact that we need to vote Labour, rather than vote Lib Dem (and get Tory) – I thought you might be interested to see Alastair Campbell’s take on this same issue:
From his blog today:
Now that things have calmed a bit after the frenzy of Tuesday, normal political service [...]

Don’t vote Liberal Democrat (Cameron says)

January 12th, 2010

It seems at last that David Cameron is saying something that I can agree with.
He has apparently written to voters in the South West to urge them not to support the Liberal Democrats at the next election.

Now, I do not agree with his logic.
A Lib Dem vote would not actually keep Labour in power, particularly [...]

Christmas Newsletter

December 25th, 2009

Last week, I sent the following Christmas newsletter to CLP members. I thought it might be of some interest to Labour supporters who may not yet be members…….
2009 has been a busy year for St. Ives CLP.
We fought hard at the local elections in May. We fielded some great individuals who got out there, knocked on doors, [...]
